To become a successful motivational speaker you typically have to have motivated a lot of people for a living in order to gain some clout before organizations will book you for events.
Charismatic Politicians, Corporate Executives, Head Coaches all proved they could motivate people to be successful BEFORE they jumped into the arena of Motivational Speaking.
There are some others who have begun as professional speakers, but to me there is always something that bugs me about them. Tony Robbins for example. He is quite obviously a talented individual, but there was always something about him that wasn’t 100% believable. There are times I see other youngish 30 or 40 somethings with perfectly tanned skin, pearly white cartoons smile and hair that is frozen in place. They have this over-the-top announcer voice with inflected, empathic sounding tones that you know is not the sincere voice they use when speaking to friends and family. You get the idea that it’s nothing more than an act.
Whereas men who have coached successful teams, made billions for their companies or those who have been successful public figures may not have great looks or golden voices, they do have a track record.
So my advice (for what its worth). Is go out and be a success at something meaningful where you have a positive impact on others and then use your knowledge, experience, charisma and most importantly the example of proven results as a catalyst for a great 2nd career.
Good Luck
