I love to write but yet I have no inspiration to write. How can I regain that inspiration?

Music, a walk through the woods, watching children play, looking at old pictures/photos.
I’ve done so by creating characters in my head that I can meditate on rather easily. It’s what all my daydreaming is focued on. I can take interesting life incedents that happen to me and re-enact them in my head, using my own characters. A whole bunch of these scenes make a good story. Just remember, life is the best inspiration. Friends tend to make good story lines. Poetry can also open youup a bit? Have you tried re-writing the lyrics of a song you like into a poem? I’ve done this with spanish lyrics that I don’t really understand, cause it’s easier. The music tells me the story, and I write it out. Again, the use of my character in developing the poem/story was vital.
I think our hobbies and preferences change as we get older. I used to LOVE reading science fiction; now I can’t stand it. It could be your creative juices are running in another direction; drawing, painting, music, etc. Take a walk through a large craft store (like Michaels) and see if something grabs your interest. Also, you may just be burned out on writing and need to take a break from it.
Ask yourself the “What If” question. What if…a rogue shark ate people (Jaws) What if..there was a galaxy long long ago… (Star Wars)…What if Kennedy lived…(Timequest)
I could go on forever…
But I’m too busy What Iffing myself.
A great writing exercise is to describe an object, any old object in your room, in as great detail as you can.
Read advice columns and ask yourself, how did these characters get in this situation? Will they follow the advice given? If so, what happens, and if not, what happens?
Read Shakespeare’s plays and think about what those characters would do in a contemporary setting. Hey, it worked for Leonard Bernstein.
Listen to the lyrics of a song (songs of the ’50s, ’60s and 70s are especially good for this) and finish the story told in the song.
read a few books in the vein in which you enjoy writing, something might spark you , or watch movies in that vein. even old ones.

Are you by chance depressed? This can affect your desire to do things that you love? It might be worth checking.
I bead - there are time I look at the beads and feel bewildered - what do I do with them? I let it go for a few days, I’ll do some reading, look at some beading books, look online at what other people are doing - seeing something wonderful that someone else has created is a great source of inspiration. It should also work with writing - do you have a favourite book that gives you warm feelings, a topic you feel really strongly about? Write about something that really interests you - start off small - a poem, a short story - something small can often lead to something bigger.
