In other words, do the things that motivated your parents still motivate you? If you feel motivational factors have changed, please explain. If not, discuss the similarities. What might we expect to happen to motivational factors in the next fifty years?

People used to work to get the necessities of life. Now there are so many doodads that aren’t necessary, but are fun to have. If my grandma had had a little black box that sat on the counter in which to make popcorn, she could have saved hours of scrubbing the black out of kettles where the popcorn had burned on. Grandma was thrilled when she could get rid of her ice box (which had to be filled daily with ice from the ice man) and get an electric refrigerator!
motivational forces in the workplace will increasing continue to focus on a feeling of fulfillment, given the fact that continual advancements will render human production rather inefficient or redundant. for these reasons, offices will be filled with people who are at work in order to have that deep sense of fulfillment that only comes with working for a large company and knowing your are a cog in the machine of a much larger engine for change and progress. In many ways, the cubicle of today is a strong reflection of this desire for progress and knowing your individual efforts (hey, that’s why you have a cubicle!) are respected and valued!
