What is inspired action? Inspired action is that wonderful phenomenon that we experience when we suddenly find ourselves taking efficient action that produces results beyond our expectations. And we enjoy it.

Inspired action is a quantum leap in productivity and true self-expression. It occurs when we’re aligned with our higher purpose and we’ve cleared out blocks to taking actions. Most of us have experienced this on occasion. When we do, we improve our living situation, whether in the area of personal organization, improved diet, or cleaning up dysfunctional relationships. In addition, taking inspired action creates a sense of joy and power in our lives. It’s just plain fun.

While studying the principles of inspired action, I’ve found that there are incredible resources available on the internet. I literally learned from the Maters about this subject in the comfort of my own home. Their insight has helped me to gain wisdom quickly and easily.

The basics of what I’ve learned can be summed up in three simple steps for how to use inspired action:

Step #1. Stay Focused – This is the simplest advice, but the actual process of staying focused takes discipline. So many wonderful plans have not been seen to their end because we simply get off track. Following our plan and focusing upon it day by day does create results. Usually, it is not the plan that is to blame, it is our follow through. The good news, however, it that the more we practice focusing, the more rewards we reap.

Here is some of the most valuable advice that I’ve ever gotten. At the beginning of each new undertaking, we can have many emotions about our project. Most of all, we can feel fear and doubt. This is where most people stop. There is always a point at which we must break through the emotional energy of previous beliefs. At that time, we can feel anxious and antsy. When that is the case, it is imperitive to go on. That anxious and antsy feeling that we experience when putting our plan into daily action is not bad. It is the emotional increase in ourselves that is necessary to break free of old patterns. Just several times of continuing with our plans through this anxiety will usually provide us with a breakthrough.

Then, inspired action is much easier. When we’ve broken through our blockages, inspired action is the rule rather than the exception.

Step #2. Practice Being Present – The art of being present, which is simply being fully engaged with where you are and what you are doing, is our constant access to inspired action. When we’re thinking of other things, or worrying about what might happen, or when we’re giving time and energy to thinking about our troubles, we’re too busy to notice our ideas of inspired action.

Practice the discipline of being present. Do one thing at a time. Practice this for 3 minutes at a time and then add more time. This will provide you with inspired action every day.

Step #3. Take On What You Worry About – This is a wonderful way to practice inspired action. When I was first working on learning about inspired action, I had a difficult time keeping my house clean every day. So I really took it on. At first, it was daunting. But I kept taking one action after another. I eventually gave myself three months to totally clean out my house and I took action every single day. Some days were easier than others. Sometimes, I found myself really frustrated, wanting the project to be done already. This was a huge distraction. But I continued on, taking one action followed by another. Soon, I got through the period where I was working and working and not seeing many results. After that, I saw progress on a daily basis. Then, it was easier to take more actions.

After I’d clean out my house, which took only several weeks, not three months, I enjoyed having a house that stayed clean all day long (and I have a young child). That was wonderful, but the most valuable experience of taking on that project was that I learned how to see things through, realizing that there are tough times to all projects. When I kept taking one action after the other and not giving in to frustration and impatience, I saw results much more quickly than I’d imagined.

Simply put, when I faced up to my fears, inspired action was then available all of the time.

Good Charlotte had this song “Motivation Proclamation.” If anything, the title should be everyone’s personal theme. It confirms how motivation can invite all the positive things in life.

When we were kids, we were motivated to do well in games so we would always win. When we were studying, our motivation to study hard was the idea that our parents would reward us. For college graduates, a future job was what motivated us.

Motivation can take us far, we all know that. Losing the motivation to do something is a bad idea . That’s why for suicidal people, death is the best option because they already lost the motivation to live.

What is motivation anyway? It is that condition that triggers behavior and impels the person to do something. It is that desire that gives the energy and direction for goals.

We need to know more about motivation as it can empower us more. Here are more information on motivation:

1. What is the importance of motivation?

There are people like motivation theorists who question themselves how influential motivation is on behavior. They still ask themselves if behavior stem from the principles, environmental influences, emotions and personality or if motivation is truly inherent.

Motivation is so important because it increases the response of a person to a certain event. For example, a sudden announcement that the one who can graduate with honors will receive a vacation to Jamaica will urge everyone to study harder.

There was this guy who probably lost the motivation to go on with life. Then one day, he met a girl who instantly motivated him to continue living. That’s a clear demonstration on the importance of behavior.

2. What is the relationship between motivation and emotion?

Emotion is entirely different from motivation, that’s one thing you need to know. Motivation can be an emotion, yes, but emotion per se needs not any affixed goal. Emotions come out because they are results to human-to-human and human-to-environment interactions. These two are related as you motivate yourself to change your feelings.

3. What is the source of motivation?

We can categorize the source into two: extrinsic or intrinsic. Intrinsic (meaning, within the person) can be subcategorized into the physical, mental (which has the following: conative, affective and cognitive) and spiritual. Extrinsic means outside of the person. 4. What are the sources of motivational needs?

a. Behavior or external

This source is from a stimulus related to another stimulus. It has the rewards and the not-so-good consequences.

b. Social

Don’t we all want to belong? This motivational need source means that we need to look for positive models.

c. Biological

It entails the following: sense activation as the senses of touch, smell and taste work themselves out, relieving hunger and thirst and keeping the body’s homeostasis.

d. Cognitive

This covers personal dreams, self-efficacy maintenance, control of your life, meeting goals and accomplishing plans.

e. Spiritual

This is about understanding your purpose in life and finding out about faith and the unknown.

5. What are the theories of motivation?

a. Behavioral Motivation Theory

This simply states that behavior is important for motivation.

b. Cognitive Motivation Theory. This states that motivation is equivalent to perceived success probability, success and reward connection and value of goal.

6. How to stay motivated?

Now this is tricky. We always lose step and lose motivation altogether. How to keep it?

a. Take goal setting seriously.

b. Deal with your personal problems head-on.

If it means attending therapy sessions and reading self-help books, do so.

c. Solving the problem yourself.

d. Never lack interest over something you’ve always been passionate about.

e. Defeat the following self-deprecating behavior patterns like extreme dependence.

f. Never make fear as your motivator.

It will never lead you anywhere.

g. Have fun with your life!

Just being in control with your life and enjoying each moment will motivate you to do the best in every activity you find yourself in. Whether it is as menial as washing the dishes or as important as finishing college, motivation always leads you to the end, to your desired result. You can also be your friend’s motivator! Pep them up, inspire them and you will see what satisfaction can that bring!

How does one feel more inspired everyday? Inspiration is the stimulation of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or activity. Inspiration comes from the Latin, inspirare which means “To breathe, to blow into …the Spirit is within.” If you want to feel and be inspired today, here are five suggestions:

1. Movies and music have always been a great source of inspiration. I recall that a key contributor reporting to me told me he was going after his dream to be a radio sports announcer after seeing the movie, “Field of Dreams.” The movie, “Forrest Gump” continues to be a source of inspiration for me. I’d recommend obtaining “The 100 Greatest Movies of All-time” by the American Film Institute. Be aware as well that some movies and music can un-inspire you, so watch a classic movie tonight.

2. Dare to dream…BIG. Only 5% of Americans have goals in writing according to numerous studies, so it’s no surprise that most people don’t feel or act inspired. When you have a worthwhile, meaningful goal, objective or outcome written down that you’re striving towards, your inspiration will increase. If you have goals, remember what Michaelangelo said: “The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we hit it.” Stretch yourself today, because we use 10% or less of our mental potential.

3. Contrast, and “count your blessing, not your troubles.” In 25 years of working in personal development, I’ve noticed that when I or my clients have the opportunity to contrast their problems with other people’s problems, they quickly come to realize that “I have it better than I thought.” We take so much for granted, and tend to focus on the negative vs. the positive, which is a human tendency that must constantly be battled. One way to accomplish this is before you go to sleep tonight, count all of your blessings, and count none of your “troubles.” It’s also a great way to start off the morning, too. What are you thankful for? An attitude of gratitude lifts the spirit to more consistent inspiration.

4. One of the primary and best ways to be more consistently inspired is to attend church. A report from the Dallas Morning News: those who regularly attend worship service experience reduced amounts of suicide, drug and alcohol abuse, crime, and out-of-wedlock births compared to those who do not attend regular worship service. In addition, they are happier, healthier, have a lower rate of depression, higher level of self-esteem, less divorce, and yes - better sex. They also earn an average of $1100 a month more than those who do not regularly attend worship service. If you already attend church, tithe or give-away five percent of your income – I promise, you’ll be inspired.

5. The greatest source of hope for the future (beyond God and church) and inspiration today is growing personally in our skills, knowledge and attitudes: personal development. If one feels as if they are stagnated or slipping backwards, that person rarely feels inspired, stimulated to high levels of achievement. On the other hand, when you and others notice that you’re growing as a person, changing some of your destructive habits, changing your thinking and attitudes, you feel more of a sense of hope – and that hope is inspirational, knowing that a better day is soon coming because you are becoming a better you! It’s almost guaranteed; remember, patience is a form of action.

Follow these five suggestions for how to become more consistently inspired – feeling, thinking and acting like you have unusual energy, drive, perseverance and calm expectancy of near-term results – and you’ll know for certain that you are headed in the right direction in life. Trust that still, small voice that says, “This might work, and I’ll try it.” Mark Twain said it best:, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
